Our Promise To You
Because We Love Everyone And Everything On The Earth
We're a small, family owned business dedicated to honoring the planet and her people by producing in the USA with only sustainable materials. We produce clothing in small batches with limited inventory to reduce waste, employ independent women artists and creatives, and vow to be as transparent as possible in all our processes.
We strongly believe plastics and forever chemicals that coat polyesters and nylons for wrinkle and stain resistance do not belong on our bodies, and are harming us in ways unseen at the moment. Our clothing is made from 92% plant-based materials- Lenzing certified lyocell tencel and 8% spandex. Spring of 2025 we will be phasing in a plant-based spandex!
Our main line is made from Lenzing certified tencel lyocell. We call it forest fiber, and it is a tree pulp fiber grown specifically on sustainable tree farms. Our forest fiber is vastly different from traditional bamboo, viscose, or rayon because it only requires one organic and non-toxic compound in a closed loop (never dumped, always reused), called NMMO (google it!) to process it, and it is guaranteed to not be harvested from old growth trees.
We are so proud to say Purusha clothing is made from start to finish in Los Angeles, CA. We’re knit, cut, and sewn in small family owned shops, dyed in a responsible dye house dedicated to low impact dyes, and screen printed in a clean and safe print shop with water-based ink. All people are paid at least minimum wage ($18/hr) and we abide by the stringent workplace and environmental laws of California.

I have a confession... I saw an Instagram video of a woman talking about her Purusha People top and how she loved it and how well it held up (she was comparing her X-years old one to a new one) and... I was intrigued. I was looking for something that I could wear while doing low-impact workouts (not intense weights and walking) and I hate traditional sports bras as I find them a struggle to get into and out of.
So, I went to the Purusha People site and the more I read about the construction of the clothes, the fabrics used, the entire production process, the more I fell in love. Sure, it was expensive. And while I'm not made of money, I'm willing to spend when the investment seems good (and when it's small business and more eco-friendly).
I was hoping for good.
What I got was *great*. What I got was a top that I have essentially lived in since trying it on and not taking it off until going to bed. What I got exceeded my expectations in every way possible. Just enough compression to feel appropriately supported (i.e. not just flopping about everywhere), thick material (yet not hot, though we'll see when actual summer arrives), easy to put on (but not losing it's stretch or compression), and utter comfort.
The Instagram post that sent me to the Purusha People website and ultimately started me on the journey of buying was showcasing the durability of the product, but I ended up buying a second top anyway because I've been wearing my first one constantly and needed…

This is the second top I’ve purchased for my friend. She loves the feel of the material and wears them to yoga class. With them she feels she doesn’t need to wear a sports bra.

Am in love with this gorgeous tank/bra/top. Perfect compression and the softest materials. My first purchase, can’t wait to add more into my rotation

The midnight blue is unique and the moon phase designs are picked out in gold. Comfortable and stylish, the covered inteior seams protect my shingles-savaged skin. This was my 5th purchase, very satisfied.

I'm so shocked by how soft and sturdy this bra feels. I'm a 34DD/34E and it gives me a decent amount of support in Medium, especially for a tank/sports bra without underwire/boning. Highly recommend. The color is GORGEOUS

Can’t wait to have this as my birth top. All my babies have kickstarted birth at night and I expect #3 will be no exception. By the light of the moon and in the beauty of this top, I can envision a beautiful homebirth. :)

I love so much bout this top! I’ve been eyeing purusha tops for a while. I love the feel of the fabric, dye and little gold moons. My only little issue is with the sizing. As a smaller person with a bigger chest I often have the issue with bra tops that it ends up being shorter than I would like, but a size up would be too wide. Some brands offer options for smaller and larger cup sizes which makes it more comfortable for those of us with bigger boobs to wear tops like this.
