The power of life causes the snake to shed its skin, just as the moon sheds its shadow. The serpent sheds its skin to be born again, as the moon its shadow to be born again. They are equivalent symbols. Sometimes the serpent is represented as a circle eating its own tail. That’s an image of life. Life sheds one generation after another, to be born again. The serpent represents immortal energy and consciousness engaged in the field of time, constantly throwing off death and being born again. There is something tremendously terrifying about life when you look at it that way. And so the serpent carries in itself the sense of both the fascination and the terror of life.
Furthermore, the serpent represents the primary function of life, mainly eating. Life consists in eating other creatures. You don’t think about that very much when you make a nice-looking meal. But what you’re doing is eating something that was recently alive. And when you look at the beauty of nature, and you see the birds picking around — they’re eating things. You see the cows grazing, they’re eating things. The serpent is a traveling alimentary canal, that’s about all it is. And it gives you that primary sense of shock, of life in its most primal quality. There is no arguing with that animal at all. Life lives by killing and eating itself, casting off death and being reborn, like the moon. This is one of the mysteries that these symbolic, paradoxical forms try to represent.

Our Promise To You
Because We Love Everyone And Everything On The Earth

We're a small, family owned business dedicated to honoring the planet and her people by producing in the USA with only sustainable materials. We produce clothing in small batches with limited inventory to reduce waste, employ independent women artists and creatives, and vow to be as transparent as possible in all our processes.

We strongly believe plastics and forever chemicals that coat polyesters and nylons for wrinkle and stain resistance do not belong on our bodies, and are harming us in ways unseen at the moment. Our clothing is made from 92% plant-based materials- Lenzing certified lyocell tencel and 8% spandex. Spring of 2025 we will be phasing in a plant-based spandex!

Our main line is made from Lenzing certified tencel lyocell. We call it forest fiber, and it is a tree pulp fiber grown specifically on sustainable tree farms. Our forest fiber is vastly different from traditional bamboo, viscose, or rayon because it only requires one organic and non-toxic compound in a closed loop (never dumped, always reused), called NMMO (google it!) to process it, and it is guaranteed to not be harvested from old growth trees.

We are so proud to say Purusha clothing is made from start to finish in Los Angeles, CA. We’re knit, cut, and sewn in small family owned shops, dyed in a responsible dye house dedicated to low impact dyes, and screen printed in a clean and safe print shop with water-based ink. All people are paid at least minimum wage ($18/hr) and we abide by the stringent workplace and environmental laws of California.

These pants are amazing for yoga, dance, lounging, and I can dress them up a bit to do errands. The fabric is divine and hugs my body so nicely. I also love the simply detail on the back of the pant leg. Very happy!

I can not even put into words how much I LOVE these pants. This style is so comfortable, flattering, and versatile. I have so many flares but wow these wide leg pants just take the cake. They hug my waist and hips, and flow beautifully down the legs. I'm 5'5 and love the cropped fit!

I have been living in these. They are a very nice shape, hug my body in all the right places, and so very versatile. The placement of the beautiful screen printing makes these more appropriate for work too. I have worn them a few days straight in the last couple weeks since they first arrived. I only take them off to give them a wash :D I hope there are more of these made in some other colors. I'd love an earthy red.

I love the way these pants fall down my legs so much. I'm 5'0" and these pants are the perfect length. I would love to see more of these in more colors!!! My only complaint is that I purchased the day before they went on sale but that's the way the universe works love this brand with my whole heart and soul. Thank you thank you thank you

I bought these before they went on sale and don't regret it. They feel a little lighter than the jump suit fabric, and they are *extremely* comfortable. The snake is placed in such a clever spot and is a nice addition to the style.
I have worn them with boots and sneaks and they are definitely fun with both. As with the jumpsuit, I got compliments immediately. Get a pair!! (I went with the same size as my jumpsuit and they fit great)

I was thrilled to see these restocked!! These pants are insanely comfy. Buttery soft, high-waisted, slightly fitted through the hips, and then loose and flowy through the thighs and calves. I never want to take these off. They've immediately become my favorite pants! I"m 5'3", and the hem falls right below my ankles. The gold moon phase snake is also such a unique design. PP never fails to impress me with the quality and comfort of their clothes! I hope more pants are made in this style. Thank you , Hayley and team :)
