This time of year is a lot of different things- warmth, happiness, abundance, but also pain, loneliness, and another year gone for some folks. I love Christmas with my family, but I totally get it's not this way for everyone. Our culture makes it extremely easy to commercialize Christmas and leave us wondering what we're missing. What I'm choosing to focus on mostly this season is hygge (pronounced hoo-gah or hue-gah)- "the Danish word for a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being (regarded as a defining characteristic of Danish culture)". Ok, kinda a mouthful there, however this feels true to my soul. When the days are shorter and darker, we can generate our own warmth and light from within. I designed this collection to be what I imagine the spirit of hygge to be. Prints with the sun and evergreens so we can remember the sun will return at the winter solstice. Grays and browns and black, but with a twinkle of some golden magic. Lack of color at this time of year can be so soothing on the eyes. The air outside is quiet. It is my hope that these pieces make you feel that well-being and contentment that is totally independent of our outside environment. It comes from our warmth, light, and love within. ✨
