Indigo + Terra Cotta Organic Cotton Leggings
Is it safe to wear leggings made from conventional cotton, nylon, and polyester or recycled plastics?
No one knows. What we do know is conventional cotton uses 16% of all the world's pesticides, and that a single drop of some of the chemicals on the skin is toxic enough to kill an adult. Cotton pesticides can stop nerve cells from communicating with each other, and these chemicals ARE detected on finished conventional cotton clothing. Polyesters, nylon, and recycled plastics are even worse, with 8000 chemicals coating their fossil fuel made fibers. The long term effects of wearing chemical-laden cotton and polyester from petroleum on your skin while sweating have not been studied, but we don't want to be the guinea pigs! This is why we vow to make cotton clothing only from organic cotton- to protect your body and our planet.
